MiraShoe-gazer, trance-pop masters Mira boast the alluring siren Regina Sosinski. Her aural beauty kept the group at the top of mp3.com's "Shoegazer" category for most of 1999. This ethereal chanteuse draws the listener in, each note becomes an intimate message from this velvet-voice vocalist. Layered guitar work adds richness to the mix. Seductive vocals and composition make this debut excellent hypno-pop. (4)

    Arcana
Isabel
Cold Meat Industry

Arcana is part of the more reflective, almost spiritual, darkwave movement. This is the easy listening side of industrial, contemporary Gothic. The genre's motto could be "All of the gloom and none of the boom." Just in time for Easter, Arcana released their own dark psalm, "Hymn of Absolute Deceit." This is on the three-song CD EP "Isabel". Arcana is chief among modern interpreters of medieval chants and liturgical music. The movement's Joan of Arc is Arcana vocalist Ida Bengtsson here sounding absolutely angelic. (3.5)
