JENNIFER DANIELS
HER CAREER
We've been traveling full time for two years around the southeast.
We've released one full length CD, Fists of Flood, and hope to record
again this fall.
DIGITAL DOWNLOAD
I think they're a great way to market new music. If folks will download
a song or two and share them with their friends, then everyone can
buy a CD. Of course there is the issue of possible abuse by copying
whole albums without paying for them. For now we want to put a song
or two out there for free(MP3), and if they want, they can purchase
the real CD. We have one song in MP3 on our Web site: http://www.jenniferdaniels.com
HER SUPPORTERS
Other artists have been helpful. We network with them and trade
gigs. Also, Eddie Owen at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, GA has just
been wonderful. -the perfect example of a club owner who cares not
only for his business, but for his staff, and for the artists who
come through. Eddie is a generous and kind man who goes out of his
way to make everyone feel at home, and that, in turn, creates the
perfect listening room.
HER LABEL
We started TNtrees because we wanted to maintain control of our
career. There are so many major label horror stories out there!!
We enjoy doing the work, being who we are (instead of having an
"image" pushed on us), playing where/when we want, and just generally
answering to ourselves. We're not necessarily against signing with
someone in the future given the right circumstances, but we're content
doing what we're doing right now.
TOURING
Since we play for a living we are constantly on the road somewhere.
Our schedule is on our Web site:
http://www.jenniferdaniels.com
We're going to Austin, TX in the last week of May. We're also going
to play in Kerrville-our first time to Texas, so we're excited about
that.
STATE OF THE INDUSTRY
Being a woman in music has sadly become a category and a stereotype.
But our music and our messages are just as different from each other
as the people we are. I am proud of what women have achieved in
music, but I hope that the time is coming when it is less important
for people to note that we are women, and more important to see
that we craft beautiful. |
