WOMANROCK:

Are you an independent artist or are you signed to a label? Have you played at SXSW before?

BLAISE:

I independently released my debut CD 'Hairspray' on Page Music in Canada. It's my first time playing SXSW.

WOMANROCK:

How did your show go at the conference? Sound? Light? Gear? Venue?

BLAISE:

Considering there was no sound check and no backline provided, the showcase went extremely well. We had an amazing production manager at Room 710 that went out of his way to make sure the night ran smoothly. All in all, the night was a success!

WOMANROCK:

Who was your favorite act at SXSW 2001?

BLAISE:

I stumbled into the Mercury on Wednesday night and heard the J.Davis Trio from Chicago. Because there was no expectation and we'd heard so many lousy bands that night ... they really stood out. They had an incredible vibe and cool look ... a combo of jazz, hip hop & rap ... Very fresh and very cool.

WOMANROCK:

What, if anything, did you learn from going to the panels this year?

BLAISE:

Wasn't able to attend very many panels. Instead I used the time and took advantage of the Four Seasons ... where it seems the 'Industry' hangs out!

WOMANROCK:

What did you hope to get out of going to SXSW? Did the conference meet your expectations?

BLAISE:

My goal was to showcase for the industry and meet as many industry types as possible and SXSW definitely allowed that to happen.

WOMANROCK:

What are your plans for 2001? New Record? New Label? Cyber heroine?

BLAISE:

Oooh, I'd love to be a cyber heroine & rock the world! As for my immediate plans, I hope to hook a major label and reel them in and of course, continue to tour to support my debut CD 'Hairspray'.
