Fearless Music TV Goes National

by Tina Whelski

Like many of the emerging bands Fearless Music TV first aired when it started broadcasting to New York City in 2004, the show finally "got signed" and makes its debut in front of a national audience this month.  In its fourth season as purveyors and conveyors of cutting-edge musical acts, Fearless Music TV finds itself picked up by the re-branded, re-imagined "I" Network, formerly PAX TV, and the show will air to an expanded audience of 95 million U.S. homes, all starved for live music footage.

Programmers across the country have dubbed Fearless as an "independent crusader, bringing rock and roll back to the people" and in a sense through intimate, honest, performance footage it does.  Evolving from eight $50 surveillance cameras once used to shoot bands under the mainstream radar, its High Definition equipment now also captures every subtlety in the music of international touring bands.

"I don't see anything like this on television," says Fearless Music TV Executive Producer Jamie Lamm.  "It's 100 percent completely live.  You don't usually get a chance to see a band perform on TV without the normal trappings of a standard music video.  I hear a band on the radio and I want to see what they look like, but I can't go to every concert.  I see their music video and you can get a little more of a sense visually, but it's clouded by some director's vision of a storyline.  Not many bands air with live performance, and if it is live, it's not 'really' live.  We offer a 3-minute documentary film of your favorite band performing in a studio.  Because the band's not in front of an audience and huge crew, the cameras can get closer to the performers than they would be in a typical concert setting.  It's much more intimate."

Bands also enjoy the Fearless Music TV challenge.  Because the show portrays bands as they truly sound and look, it provides a credible forum that levels the playing field between acts.
